UK ISPs To Block EZTV

After several attempts and efforts made by the Federation Against Copyright Theft (Fact) and the Motion Picture Association (MPA) EZTV will be blocked by British ISPs such as Sky, BT, TalkTalk and Virgin. Last week the High Court ruled that EZTV will have their access revoked in the UK due to the large amount of pirated content appearing on its website.

Fact in conjunction with the MPA had tried to avoid legal action by sending cease and desist orders to EZTV. After there was no reply or action taken to remove the pirated content, it was only a matter of time before the UK courts stepped in. It is expected to take two weeks for the major ISPs to block all access to the website. Efforts are also being made to prohibit this and other infringing sites from generating revenue off ad networks.

A spokesperson for MPA said, “This site provides access to copyrighted material on a massive scale with no permission from the copyright owners. FACT, supported by the MPA, is now taking further action against EZTV through the courts and we have notified the major UK ISPs of our intention to act.”

Other torrent sites such as the Pirate Bay, Kickass Torrents, H33T, Fenopy, Movie2k and Download4all have all been blocked from major ISPs in the UK. Aside from EZTV being added to the list, it is expected that torrent site YIFY could face a similar future in coming weeks.
