Netflix is now responsible for 15% of all internet traffic globally
Sandvine’s network report revealed the applications responsible for the largest traffics on the web. Netflix alone accounts for the highest number (15%) of megabytes in the world. YouTube (11.4%) is just behind, followed by Amazon Prime Video (3.7%).
According to Statista, the number of streaming subscribers of the platform is constantly increasing and surpassed the 100 million mark in 2017, thanks to the company’s global expansion strategy. Although more than half of Netflix’s subscribers are located in the United States, the company’s presence is increasing steadily worldwide. Some of the most important markets are Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina, with penetration of 72% in these regions, also in 2017.
